Will you help make an Animal Hospice in South Italya reality?

Since 1999, Animals Without Limits has focused on Spay & Neuter programs as the centerpiece of our work with animals in crisis, chaos and war zones.  We still do this today, but we want to
do more.  Therefore, Animals Without Limits’ #1 priority for 2010 is the establishment of a Hospice-clinic in Campania, Italy.

There are an estimated 60,000 stray dogs and cats in Campania(the region around Naples).
There are countless more thousands in far too many shelters.  The few Spay & Neuter programs
run counter to the culture, and the law states that no animal can be euthanized if it is healthy
or treatable. There is corruption because of the 3 Euro per day per dog shelter operators receive
to warehouse these animals with exceedingly little chance for adoption.

What happens when a stray is sick or injured, lucky enough to be plucked off the street for treatment?  What is the follow-through?  Either a life warehoused in a “concentration camp” shelter with hundreds to thousands of other dogs and cats or returned to the streets where they have little chance of healing.

What happens with the old ones that are in cramped shelter kennels, surrounded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the cacophony of barking and yapping?

Both the injured/sick stray that needs time to recover and heal, and the old-souls that need a
little peace in their final weeks and months, are currently out of luck.

Animals Without Limits’ goal this year is to establish a facility where these cases can be
brought in, cared for, and surrounded by love.  Where they will be warm and dry, and fed
appropriate food for their condition and age. Where their wounds can be cleaned and treated,
where follow-up medication can be provided, and where their final days are filled with compassion,
perhaps the first they ever knew in their entire life.

The march of a thousand miles begins with the first step.  To attain our goal, every dollar, euro
or kronor is welcome and needed.  No donation is too small, all are significant and very helpful.
